Melissa Detrick, BS, Owner/Administrator
Melissa was raised on a dairy farm in Massachusetts. She graduated from Penn State in 1986 with a BS in Dairy Production. Except for one year, Melissa has been with us since October 1986, first as a veterinary assistant, technician, practice manager and then managing partner. In 2014, she became sole owner of Honey Brook Animal Hospital. Currently, she is working on her certification in Veterinary Practice Management. Over the years, she has owned a cat, two dogs, three guinea pigs and a gecko.
In her spare time, Melissa's therapy is baking, either alone or with her daughter; camping with her family; reading; or playing piano.
Edward Frankel, DVM, Veterinarian
Dr. Frankel began his career with animals doing kennel work at the age of 15. He received his veterinary degree from Kansas State University in 1963. After practicing in Kentucky and Missouri for two years, he volunteered to serve in the Army from 1965-1966. He moved to PA and in 1972 came to Honey Brook and became the owner of Honey Brook Animal Hospital. Dr. Frankel currently serves on the Wildlife Rehabilitation Council of the PA Game Commission and the board of directors of the Honey Brook Borough Skateboard Park. Over the years, Dr. Frankel has had many pets ranging from cats and dogs to skinks, snakes and a cow named Blossom.

In his spare time, Dr. Frankel plays tennis 2-3 days a week and is an avid conifer gardener. He and his wife, Pat, enjoy travel, attending craft shows, and music/arts programs in Lancaster City.
Scott Gellman, VMD, Veterinarian
Dr. Gellman joined Honey Brook Animal Hospital in November 2017. He has been practicing in the Philadelphia area since graduating from the University of Pennsylvania. Even though his most recent position was at an all-cat hospital, he enjoys seeing all companion animal species including exotics and pocket pets.

Noreen, Office Coordinator
Noreen has spent more than 25 years in veterinary practices in the Philadelphia area. She has done everything from kennel work to assisting the veterinarian to now an office coordinator. Noreen is the proud owner of 5 dogs and 2 cats.
Some of Noreen's favorites: her grandchildren; chocolate; a very specific type of pen; and keeping Dr. Frankel in line.
Colleen, Office Coordinator
A graduate of Immaculata University with a B.S. in Biology, Colleen has been with us several years as a receptionist, veterinary assistant and office coordinator. She is an avid horse lover. She's managed horse farms and worked at an equine practice before she came to us. Colleen has two daughters, Emma-Leigh and Abigail. She also has a dog, 4 cats, and a horse.

Colleen loves to be outdoors riding, hiking, or playing with her girls. She has a love of pun-ny jokes. The "worse" they are, the better she likes them!
Jessica Ink, AS, Veterinary Nurse
Jess was born and raised in Lancaster County, PA, and graduated from Garden Spot High School. In 2014, she earned her Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology from Harcum College. She started working at Honey Brook Animal Hospital in 2015. She enjoys working with a variety of different patients and cases and loves being able to work with animals all day.
In her spare time, Jess enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She likes being outside and spending time at the beach or in the mountains. She is also a proud owner of Dixie, a mixed breed she adopted as a puppy.
Ashley Adamson, Veterinary Nurse
Ashley has been in the animal care field for more than 12 years. She particularly enjoys dentistry and our geriatric patients. Ashley is working towards her Veterinary Technician Certification. Currently she owns a toy poodle, Fiona, and 2 cats, Slevin and Phil.

Ashley Burleigh, Veterinary Nurse
Ashley came to us while finishing her course work at Harcum College in her quest to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. She enjoys dentistry, lab work and interesting internal medicine cases. Besides Honey Brook Animal Hospital, she works for the emergency and specialty hospital, Metropolitan Veterinary Associates. Ashley enjoys spending time with her son, and her service dog China.

Danielle Ball, Veterinary Nurse
Danielle has been in the animal care world for over 20 years. She spent many years with the Humane League of Lancaster County as the kennel manager, Humane Officer, and Director of Operations. Along the way she has had many pet cats, dogs, and at least one guinea pig.
When Danielle is not here, caring for our patients, she enjoys time with her children and two grandsons.
